Kids Gardens Grow Junior Farmers

Here’s a Dad whose young kids are enthusiastic about building a planter box for their very own kids garden. His youngsters are involved in building it, planting it, watering it… and come harvest time, they’ll line up to pick all “their” vegetables.
Unless kids have a very strong aversion to the taste of vegetables, they’ll gladly [...]

Kids Gardens-Kids and Frogs and Fish

Just found a delightful video of a group of young kids learning how to make fish pond out of a metal tub, a filter fountain, some acquatic plants, one determined little frog, and some very confused goldfish.
Lots of giggles later, and they’ve learned a terrific lesson… how a fountain works, how to place it in a pond, what [...]

Not only that, but it will also increase your own plant knowledge and expertise.

Kids Gardens Are Critical

I just found some really interesting articles explaining why kids gardens are so important. The common thread in all of them is that when kids are involved in gardening, they are more active outdoors and they tend to eat healthier foods.

Look at it from their point of view... they can dig, poke seeds into the dirt, squirt water everywhere, watch their very own plants grow, and when they can hardly wait a second longer... they get to pick their own stuff! If they can actually plan a meal around their harvests - well, they just might reach for an apple or a strawberry instead of a "twinkie"!

Kitchen Garden Spring Tour

Here’s a gal who has all her ducks in a row… and kids too! I don’t about you guys, but I’m really impressed.
As the video progresses, you can see (and hear) that their lot is probably in an urban area, and not very garden-friendly. Obviously, this didn’t stop this intrepid mom! She’s developed a productive raised [...]
